Meet Miss Scarlett Singer

I go, from time to time, to our local Op Shop run by Father Riley for his 'Youth off the Streets' program. I've picked up picture frames, teacups for Claire's birthday high tea, books for centre-pieces and even some furniture like bookcases. The latest find to keep me busy cleaning is Miss Scarlett. She is a 1945 treadle Singer sewing machine. Her stitches are delicate and she works beautifully. I went to the singer website and found she was made in Clydebank, Scotland and she has found a loving home with us. I hope to teach the girls to sew on her even though Claire is already a dab hand at needlework. This is a bear she made at after school care.
