Page 2 Girls DT Project - February

Wheeee it's March already! I hope you have been inspired to scrap some cards or try a mini album this year. Here are my samples for my February DT work. I made two layouts, quite simple ones really. I much prefer 8.5 x 11 inch pages. I find that when I scrap 12 x 12 pages I just don't know where to stop. I love love love my Making Memories Slice and so I cut the little tricycle and the ladybug on the layouts with this fantastic easy to use machine.

The next thing I was inspired to make was this little heart keeper box. That tag says 'be strong'. I have had the box for ages so I covered it in patterned paper and stamped around the edges with embossing ink and sprinkled red powder and heat embossed the stamped hearts. 

This is the box from the front. I used those fantastic Melissa Francis jars of German Glass Glitter around the door frame for a bit of sparkly pop.

When you open the doors they reveal my heart.... ready 1..2..3.. ohhhhh lol

I made the heart from wool felt. I just cut out two heart shapes and hand sewed around the edges. Then I stuffed (I mean really stuffed the heart full off stuffing) the heart and glued it to the back of the shadow box. I do love this little box.

Next I took inspiration from a class I really enjoyed with the very talented mixed media artist,  Linda Baldock. All you need to do is to trot off to Bunnings or Mitre 10 and pick up a $10 roll of annealed wire. It's blackish wire which wont rust and is really quite easy to make into beautiful shapes to make yourself a necklace. It's really forgiving too. It doesn't look too rough like some shiny wire does after you've had a good chop at it. Especially while trying to make a nice round jump ring hee hee. 

If you have the chance my advice is to take as many classes as possible. I love learning new techniques and sometimes branching out into a bit of jewellery making can be very good for the old Mojo. Anyway, here is another dinky little book I made with contact prints and left over patterned paper. I have to say the papers from the My Minds Eye range are gorgeous. I went back and bought up big after I finished my DT projects.

Page 2 Girls DT Project - January - Libby

Hi there! Allow me to proudly present... my creations made with the inspiring We Are Memory Keepers range - Vintage T.

 I used photos of my daughter Claire taken during a recent park visit. I think they went well with the WRMK papers. I know a lot of scrappers prefer to use black and white photos because they tend to go with any paper colour scheme. I love to use colour photos where I can, I just think it looks a bit more alive.

I deckled the edges of the kraft card stock with a good old fashioned pair of $2 shop fancy edge scissors. I am so retro lol. I mostly scrap in 8.5 x 11 inch so I decided on some Tim Holz Rosette dies to make the Admiral Bazzill flowers. I do have a thing for crepe paper and I added some along the edge. The foil paper strip stands out quite a bit in real life so I thought I would soften it with the blue crepe.

Now for an extra bit of fun... the bitty book.

Some families share a tradition of camping for their holidays. Hmmm we went camping recently but found one of us really didn't like being quite so close to nature. If we could go "GLAMPING", the new glamorous version of camping then both my girls would be happy. My twins are very different... one tom-boy one diva. That's where the idea of this project came from. It's called 'Chalk and Cheese Go Camping'. Most of my scrapping has a bit of wry humour thrown in... oh and the green and yellow plaid paper is called Golf Pants lol. I love that paper companies put some thought into naming their products. The camouflage paper goes really well with camping photos don't you think?

There is a terrific You Tube video on how to make a little mini book out of one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock. Then it's simply a matter of decorating the mini inside.

Create a Mini Scrapbook

I use YouTube, Google and now Pinterest to find all sorts of scrappy ideas.

I made the pocket from glassine paper. Honestly I end up with some of my ideas going straight into the rubbish bin. Sometimes when I scrap I have to know when to quit on something that isn't working. I used the die, 'Tattered Banners' for this page.

This was one of my favourite parts of the bitty book. On the right hand corner I used the Tim Holz long die "Tattered Gatherings" with glassine paper and Kaisercraft bling.

The binding of this book has been reinforced with paper, just to stop the folded edges from tearing. Then I popped a ribbon around the book. Now these itty bitty books have been around for ages but they are so much fun to make and quick too. They also help to use up all you left over scraps of paper.

Made from the Tim Holz paper and the rosette die with one of his buttons. I love Tim Holz products, can you tell? Anyway that's it for me, I really hope you are able to pop into the shop to see the Design Team projects in real life. They are all so gorgeous and different. Lots of inspiration! I grew up on the Central Coast of NSW, and after a brief interlude in Cooma NSW, have been living in the outer suburbs of Newcastle NSW for the past 10 years. I am married (and are small business owners) with two teenage kids (currently one in TAFE and one home schooling). I am thankful for the freedom and time they allow me to create and craft.

I am a craft addict from way back – as a young girl it was knitting and crochet, as a young adult it was tapestry and cross stitch. Some 15 years ago I began dabbling in card making and stamping.In that 15 years, I have also had a go at patchwork, quilting, sewing, and scrapbooking to name a few. About 2 years ago my love of stamping was reignited, along with it a greater love of card making and the discovery of ATC’s. This, along with knitting and crochet, fills most of my ‘spare’ time.

I have two gorgeous teenagers and a very kind, patient and understanding husband. I’ve been making cards for over 11 years now and I absolutely love every aspect of it! My name is Kate, I am 26 years old and I live on the shores of Lake Macquarie NSW with my husband & 2 daughters.

I have been scrapping for nearly 6 years, and started with a basic kit I was given as a gift, then I discovered the big wide world of Scrapbooking.

I have been fortunate enough to be on a few design & creative teams here in Australia & abroad, over the last couple of years. I'm a proud single Mumma to twin girls (who are the subjects of most of my scrapping). I have loved scrapbooking for 14 years. In 2006 I was a Scrapbooking Memories Master and lately I have been trying to improve my photography. I am a slow scrapper compared to most but I will stay up until the wee hours when I am absorbed by a page or project.

The thrill of being asked to join the Pages 2 Scrap design team is such a rush and I cannot wait to open that big package from Tuggerah every month! Pages 2 Scrap is the most amazing store, (my bank account will vouch for my addiction) and I just love Tim Holz products and fun mixed media finds. I do actually get tingles shopping in the store when I am surrounded by all the gorgeous potential.
